A strange little side quest
Zoom out from Plug Away! for a moment and the timeline gets surprisingly deep. A major archery competition held at Finsbury in England in 1583 drew about 3,000 participants. The timeline takes another interesting turn: Computer Space reached arcades in 1971 and became one of the earliest commercial electronic arcade games, even though its controls proved demanding for many players. It is a good reminder that simple game mechanics can carry a surprising amount of history.
