A strange little side quest
One reason food history keeps producing good game ideas around Panda The Cake Maker is that its history is full of strange turns. Nancy Johnson patented a hand-cranked ice-cream freezer in 1843 that used an inner churning chamber surrounded by ice. That is only half the story. SimCity grew out of Will Wright's enjoyment of the map editor he had built for an earlier game; the act of shaping a city became the game itself. It is a good reminder that simple game mechanics can carry a surprising amount of history.
