A strange little side quest
There is a neat bit of history hiding behind the kind of play you find in New Year 2012 Coloring. Reader Rabbit's 1986 arrival was part of a major expansion of educational computer software before the CD-ROM boom of the 1990s. That old idea kept changing rather than disappearing. In 1958, Tennis for Two used an analog computer and an oscilloscope to turn simple physics into a playable tennis-like demonstration. That gives New Year 2012 Coloring a little more company than it first appears to have.
