A strange little side quest
The rules may be simple on screen, but the backstory around Need for Race is anything but tiny. Silverstone hosted the first Formula 1 World Championship round on May 13, 1950. It also connects to a different milestone: In 1958, Tennis for Two used an analog computer and an oscilloscope to turn simple physics into a playable tennis-like demonstration. It is a good reminder that simple game mechanics can carry a surprising amount of history.
