A strange little side quest
Monster Rush Tower Defense has plenty of company in a long tradition of players chasing timing, patterns and better decisions. The word 'checkmate' is linked to the Persian expression 'shah mat', used when the king was trapped. The same trail leads to another fact: Pong was field-tested in California bars in 1972 and helped launch the modern arcade-game era. That long chain of experiments is part of why strategy games still feels fresh when a game finds the right twist.
