A strange little side quest
The fun part of looking behind Kill Bill is seeing how many older ideas are still alive in modern play. Computer Space reached arcades in 1971 and became one of the earliest commercial electronic arcade games, even though its controls proved demanding for many players. That old idea kept changing rather than disappearing. Street Fighter II, released in 1991, turned head-to-head arcade fighting into a worldwide phenomenon and helped define the modern fighting-game genre. That gives Kill Bill a little more company than it first appears to have.
