A strange little side quest
Before the next round of Katie Dress Up, here is a piece of the bigger picture. During much of the 19th century in the United States, visibly painted cosmetics became socially unacceptable even though beauty practices never disappeared. Another piece of context lands nicely beside it: Atari's Gran Trak 10 from 1974 is recognized as the first arcade racing video game. That gives Katie Dress Up a little more company than it first appears to have.
