A strange little side quest
Put Kairi's Ice Cream Shoppe next to the history of food history and a few unexpected connections appear. Nancy Johnson patented a hand-cranked ice-cream freezer in 1843 that used an inner churning chamber surrounded by ice. The surprising part is how quickly the next milestone followed. M.U.L.E. arrived in 1983 with multiplayer competition built around gathering resources and keeping a colony alive, an early example of resource-driven strategy play. That long chain of experiments is part of why food history still feels fresh when a game finds the right twist.
