A strange little side quest
Zoom out from Juantankamón Redux for a moment and the timeline gets surprisingly deep. By 1987, fantasy role-playing had become a major computer-game direction, with Zelda, licensed Dungeons & Dragons games and other story-led adventures expanding the form. Another piece of context lands nicely beside it: Computer Space reached arcades in 1971 and became one of the earliest commercial electronic arcade games, even though its controls proved demanding for many players. That long chain of experiments is part of why role-playing games still feels fresh when a game finds the right twist.
