A strange little side quest
Jigsaw Master has plenty of company in a long tradition of players chasing timing, patterns and better decisions. Alexey Pajitnov created Tetris in 1984 after drawing inspiration from pentomino puzzles, then simplified the idea around shapes made from four squares. The broader history adds one more wrinkle. A major archery competition held at Finsbury in England in 1583 drew about 3,000 participants. It is a good reminder that simple game mechanics can carry a surprising amount of history.
