A strange little side quest
The mechanics around Idle Mutation Tower Defense have roots that stretch far beyond modern browsers. Chess changed dramatically in Europe during the 15th and 16th centuries when the queen became the board's most powerful piece. A second detail makes the picture even better: Computer Space reached arcades in 1971 and became one of the earliest commercial electronic arcade games, even though its controls proved demanding for many players.
