A strange little side quest
There is a neat bit of history hiding behind the kind of play you find in HillSide Bus Simulator 3D. Atari's Gran Trak 10 from 1974 is recognized as the first arcade racing video game, decades before modern 3D racers. The surprising part is how quickly the next milestone followed. Nintendo's Donkey Kong arrived in 1981 and introduced the character first known as Jumpman, who later became Mario. That long chain of experiments is part of why racing still feels fresh when a game finds the right twist.
