A strange little side quest
There is a neat bit of history hiding behind the kind of play you find in Groblin Survivor Plus. Games resembling checkers were being played thousands of years ago; evidence of related games reaches back to around 1600 BC. There is another connection worth keeping in the same mental pocket: Pong was field-tested in California bars in 1972 and helped launch the modern arcade-game era. That long chain of experiments is part of why strategy games still feels fresh when a game finds the right twist.
