A strange little side quest
Put Geometry Dash next to the history of archery and a few unexpected connections appear. A major archery competition held at Finsbury in England in 1583 drew about 3,000 participants. Another piece of context lands nicely beside it: Street Fighter II, released in 1991, turned head-to-head arcade fighting into a worldwide phenomenon and helped define the modern fighting-game genre. That gives Geometry Dash a little more company than it first appears to have.
