A strange little side quest
Garden Design Games: Flower Decoration has plenty of company in a long tradition of players chasing timing, patterns and better decisions. Reader Rabbit's 1986 arrival was part of a major expansion of educational computer software before the CD-ROM boom of the 1990s. A second detail makes the picture even better: SimCity grew out of Will Wright's enjoyment of the map editor he had built for an earlier game; the act of shaping a city became the game itself. That history is one reason familiar mechanics can still feel new when they are recombined well.
