A strange little side quest
The fun part of looking behind Galaxy Rider is seeing how many older ideas are still alive in modern play. Humans did not see the Moon's far side until a Soviet spacecraft flew past it in 1959. The same trail leads to another fact: Archery was already on the Olympic programme in 1900, boxing joined the modern Games in 1904, and basketball became a medal sport in 1936. That gives Galaxy Rider a little more company than it first appears to have.
