A strange little side quest
One reason video-game history keeps producing good game ideas around Friday Night Flappin' Bird is that its history is full of strange turns. Pong was field-tested in California bars in 1972 and helped launch the modern arcade-game era. That old idea kept changing rather than disappearing. In 1958, Tennis for Two used an analog computer and an oscilloscope to turn simple physics into a playable tennis-like demonstration. The screen is modern; the urge to test skill, pattern and timing definitely is not.
