A strange little side quest
FNF: Sonic Rush may feel immediate, but the ideas around arcade history have been evolving for a very long time. Street Fighter II, released in 1991, turned head-to-head arcade fighting into a worldwide phenomenon and helped define the modern fighting-game genre. A second detail makes the picture even better: A major archery competition held at Finsbury in England in 1583 drew about 3,000 participants. That is the kind of background detail that makes another attempt at FNF: Sonic Rush feel a bit more connected to the history of play.
