A strange little side quest
Five Hours at Nightmare may feel immediate, but the ideas around video-game history have been evolving for a very long time. Spacewar! appeared on MIT's PDP-1 in 1962 and became one of the earliest influential computer games shared among programmers. Another piece of context lands nicely beside it: Pac-Man went on sale in 1980, and its creator Toru Iwatani famously linked the character's shape to a pizza with a slice missing. Not bad for a few facts hiding behind a Play button.
