A strange little side quest
Put Excidium Aeterna next to the history of space and a few unexpected connections appear. The Moon orbits Earth at an average distance of about 385,000 kilometres, and surface gravity there is roughly one-sixth as strong as Earth's. Another piece of context lands nicely beside it: Doom changed game design and distribution in 1993 by separating its engine from content and spreading widely through shareware. So a round of Excidium Aeterna is not just a quick distraction; it is a tiny stop on a much longer space timeline.
