A strange little side quest
The rules may be simple on screen, but the backstory around Emilia Spa Party is anything but tiny. During much of the 19th century in the United States, visibly painted cosmetics became socially unacceptable even though beauty practices never disappeared. That is only half the story. Pac-Man went on sale in 1980, and its creator Toru Iwatani famously linked the character's shape to a pizza with a slice missing. That is the kind of background detail that makes another attempt at Emilia Spa Party feel a bit more connected to the history of play.
