A strange little side quest
One reason puzzles keeps producing good game ideas around Echollow is that its history is full of strange turns. The name Tetris combines a reference to four-square pieces with Pajitnov's interest in tennis. That old idea kept changing rather than disappearing. Early computer role-playing games helped turn rules, inventories, exploration and character progression into systems that could support long-form digital adventures. That is the kind of background detail that makes another attempt at Echollow feel a bit more connected to the history of play.
