A strange little side quest
Dysfunctional has plenty of company in a long tradition of players chasing timing, patterns and better decisions. A major archery competition held at Finsbury in England in 1583 drew about 3,000 participants. A second detail makes the picture even better: By 1987, fantasy role-playing had become a major computer-game direction, with Zelda, licensed Dungeons & Dragons games and other story-led adventures expanding the form. So a round of Dysfunctional is not just a quick distraction; it is a tiny stop on a much longer archery timeline.
