A strange little side quest
The fun part of looking behind DIY Boots Designer is seeing how many older ideas are still alive in modern play. During much of the 19th century in the United States, visibly painted cosmetics became socially unacceptable even though beauty practices never disappeared. It also connects to a different milestone: Space Invaders, released in 1978, helped push video games into mainstream popular culture. The screen is modern; the urge to test skill, pattern and timing definitely is not.
