Crossed Wires

GROMBI FACT DROPREAL-WORLD TRIVIA

A strange little side quest

The next time Crossed Wires asks for one more try, remember that game ideas rarely appear from nowhere. Alexey Pajitnov created Tetris in 1984 after drawing inspiration from pentomino puzzles, then simplified the idea around shapes made from four squares. The surprising part is how quickly the next milestone followed. Nintendo's Donkey Kong arrived in 1981 and introduced the character first known as Jumpman, who later became Mario. It is a good reminder that simple game mechanics can carry a surprising amount of history.

What you are getting into

The virtual reality machine in the laboratory is broken! Professor von Screwtop needs your help to plug everything back together, untangling the cables and wires and reconnecting the pipes, before Rubi and her friends are scheduled to come visit and test out their new game. You're qualified to handle all of that, right? Each level is a tangled board of tiles that need to be reconnected. Tap on a tile to spin it, and line it up to make sure the 'start' and 'end' points meet each other. Rotate the orange cables to match the plugs, spin the blue pipes to ensure machine-cooled processing power, and untangle the purple audio wires to make the sound function. Levels can range from being 3 by 3 squares up to 8 by 8 squares. Smaller levels are easy, if you only have one or two cables to attach and untangle, but larger levels can be trickier than you expect. There are 70 levels in this game - can you puzzle them all out?
