A strange little side quest
Even a quick game like Christmas Party sits on top of decades — and sometimes centuries — of ideas. Spacewar! appeared on MIT's PDP-1 in 1962 and became one of the earliest influential computer games shared among programmers. It also connects to a different milestone: Computer Space reached arcades in 1971 and became one of the earliest commercial electronic arcade games, even though its controls proved demanding for many players. That long chain of experiments is part of why video-game history still feels fresh when a game finds the right twist.
