A strange little side quest
Put Butcher Aggression next to the history of simulation games and a few unexpected connections appear. SimCity grew out of Will Wright's enjoyment of the map editor he had built for an earlier game; the act of shaping a city became the game itself. And the history keeps stacking up: Gun Fight reached arcades in 1975 and became the first arcade video game to use a microprocessor. That history is one reason familiar mechanics can still feel new when they are recombined well.
