A strange little side quest
Put Bueno Rufus next to the history of food history and a few unexpected connections appear. Cone-shaped wafers with cream were described in print before 1900, but the ice-cream cone became a major American fairground hit at the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair. That old idea kept changing rather than disappearing. A major archery competition held at Finsbury in England in 1583 drew about 3,000 participants. That is the kind of background detail that makes another attempt at Bueno Rufus feel a bit more connected to the history of play.
