You can do it in the Arcade Mode, where you fight aliens to try to unlock new ones through winning, the Survival Mode, where you fight one random alien after another, and try seeing how many you can defeat, or the Mutations Mode, where aliens and their traits are mixed-up, for you to fight these new monsters. Of course, not all the aliens are available at the beginning for you to use, but you will unlock more of them the more you fight and win! You press the right arrow to hit, the left one to defend, and you can also use the up one for combos. After getting enough combos, you can use a special attack by pressing the spacebar.
