A strange little side quest
The fun part of looking behind Battle Mechs is seeing how many older ideas are still alive in modern play. Boxing was part of the ancient Olympic Games by 688 BC, long before gloves, weight classes, or timed rounds existed in anything like their modern form. That is only half the story. Games resembling checkers were being played thousands of years ago; evidence of related games reaches back to around 1600 BC. It is a good reminder that simple game mechanics can carry a surprising amount of history.
