A strange little side quest
Ball and Flag may feel immediate, but the ideas around puzzles have been evolving for a very long time. The name Tetris combines a reference to four-square pieces with Pajitnov's interest in tennis. The surprising part is how quickly the next milestone followed. Reader Rabbit's 1986 arrival was part of a major expansion of educational computer software before the CD-ROM boom of the 1990s. The screen is modern; the urge to test skill, pattern and timing definitely is not.
