A strange little side quest
Archer's Bounty may feel immediate, but the ideas around archery have been evolving for a very long time. Archery first appeared at the Olympic Games in 1900 and returned permanently to the programme in 1972 after a long absence. Another piece of context lands nicely beside it: Early computer role-playing games helped turn rules, inventories, exploration and character progression into systems that could support long-form digital adventures. That is the kind of background detail that makes another attempt at Archer's Bounty feel a bit more connected to the history of play.
