A strange little side quest
The rules may be simple on screen, but the backstory around Alien Planet is anything but tiny. Voyager 1 entered interstellar space in 2012, and Voyager 2 followed in 2018. The timeline takes another interesting turn: Doom changed game design and distribution in 1993 by separating its engine from content and spreading widely through shareware. That is the kind of background detail that makes another attempt at Alien Planet feel a bit more connected to the history of play.
