A strange little side quest
There is a neat bit of history hiding behind the kind of play you find in 8 Ball Pool. The Oregon Trail mixed travel, supplies, risk and survival decisions decades before resource-management systems became common in mainstream games. Another piece of context lands nicely beside it: Basketball became an Olympic medal sport in 1936, while women’s basketball joined the Olympic programme in 1976. It is a good reminder that simple game mechanics can carry a surprising amount of history.
