A strange little side quest
Even a quick game like 7 Second Haircuts sits on top of decades — and sometimes centuries — of ideas. Barbie Fashion Designer became a major software hit in 1996, selling more than 500,000 copies in two months and proving there was a large audience for fashion-focused computer play. The same trail leads to another fact: Spacewar! appeared on MIT's PDP-1 in 1962 and became one of the earliest influential computer games shared among programmers. The screen is modern; the urge to test skill, pattern and timing definitely is not.
